I’m glad I made it an early night because I have to be energized this morning.
The Cheerleader and I are going to do a new workout called Booiaka (pronounced Boo-yah-kuh).
It’s high energy, dance and they say you can burn up to 700 calories an hour. Sounds good!
I’ve been dying to find a dance class for adults for the past 15 years. Ok admittedly if I was looking that hard I would have found something, but this one dropped into my lap and I knew I had to go.
I’ve had some dance experience, but the Cheerleader hasn’t, although she was a cheerleader so that counts.
We walked in not knowing what to expect, I know I was hoping my dance background would kick in and I would be able to keep up. I think the Cheerleader was a little afraid.
She may have been afraid because before the workout started I realized I forgot to freshen up my deodorant before I left the house, and I shared my little snafu with her.
We started out strong, at least until she added the arms to the first move. For the life of me I couldn’t figure them out, so I blew it off and went on with the dance. I decided I wasn’t going to be performing this anywhere so I was ok without that part.
We were lucky enough to be learning from the creator of the workout Tatiana Tamai, a fabulous dancer with an infectious spirit.
She kept adding steps on repeating them as we went, and before we knew it, we had learned half the dance, and we were sweating our butts off!
The class was an hour and a half and for not working out for a year I think I did pretty well. I can’t say the same about my footwork, taking 15 years off from dancing definitely took it’s toll on me, but I think I could get back into it pretty easily with a second class.
After the workout I was inspired on so many levels.
The Cheerleader and I went to breakfast, of course we did, we had to gain back the 700 calories we burned off!
As we were sitting there I began thinking about a show concept that popped into my head recently. I knew she was the right person to talk to about it.
She is so encouraging and has so many fabulous ideas. She shared the excitement with me and by the time she dropped me off at home I was ready to hit the ground running.
Today I’m spending the day researching and putting a proposal together to take to the big boss man.
I believe my brain is thinking in this way because of the past two days. Spending time in the zen den cleared out the cobwebs, and Booiaka got the creative juices flowing so I can move forward with my aspirations.
Sometimes you just need to pamper your soul to get grounded so you can focus your sights on what you really want.
