Today I met up with the BFF to do more wedding shopping.
She managed to finagle a way to get me in the wedding. I have to say I am excited and honored to be a part of the wedding, even though it is the 7th time.
I went in and pulled the same 3 dresses her sister tried on a few days ago.
The first was a definite no go, a boat neck sleeveless shift dress with an A-line skirt. It was cute it just didn’t do anything for me.
The second was a halter top with an A line skirt, it was ok, but once again I wasn’t thrilled.
The last was a strapless with more of a trumpet bottom. It was definitely not working because I’m not tall enough. If I was 5’5″ or 5’6″ it would have been perfect but 5’3″ and as much as I tried to make it work, it just wasn’t going to happen.
About that time the BFF came back with a gorgeous red dress. It was strapless with a fuller skirt that had pockets, along the bottom of the skirt there were large flat sequins in different sizes that appeared to look like polka dots. It was a fun dress, it felt good, and it looked fantastic!
She went to check and see if we could changer her sisters order and when she came back she was sad. The good news was they could switch it, the bad news was it didn’t come in her colors!
I finally settled on the halter top. It was by far the most flattering on me.
As we walked up to pay, the clerk told me the dress would be in the beginning of May.
At that moment a fraction of reality hit my brain and bounced off almost as quickly as it hit, because I forced it out.
The reality of the situation is that I am going to be a 40 year old single bridesmaid who has never been married.
Wow now there’s something to hang your hat on.
