Day 31: A makeup celebration

I had plans to go hiking with the Encourager today but somehow everything got lost in the shuffle and I have to say I was pretty happy about it.

I wanted to go earlier in the week but after the late ending to happy hour and dog sitting afterward waking up early to lace on my hiking boots wasn’t sounding very appealing.

I woke up close to 10am with a text from the Pixie laying out a plan for our plans to get her some makeup and pants for her next tv appearance.

It sounded fantastic.  After dog sitting in the morning, I got ready and met up with the Pixie to do our shopping.

Our first stop… a lemonade stand for a local girl with brain cancer.  It was so sad but so nice to see a neighborhood pull together for a good cause.

From there it was off to the mall.  We hit a few shops for the pants and then decided to do the makeup.

It was so much fun to be sitting on the other side of the chair, usually I’m the one sitting there getting made over while my girlie friends watch giddie with excitement.

Today the roles were reversed and it exciting to see the transformation take place.  The more makeup they put on her the more beautiful she became.

As the conversation progressed about her makeup routine (which is non-exixtant) the more I decided I didn’t like her.  Of course I’m kidding, but to be that naturally beautiful isn’t fair!

A few simple adjustments and she was polished and ready for her next tv appearance.  I’m so excited for her as she grows her business.

She radiates talking about it and I can’t help but think I want something to feel that way about.

I’m getting there but not quite.  I have a few too many balls in the air and I need to focus on one of them instead of half ass-ing all of them.

After the makeup we had to celebrate so it was off to our favorite wine bar to celebrate.

Once at home I found myself wanting to text the hockey player guy named Mike.  I’m pretty sure it was because I watched a hockey game earlier.

I knew it was a bad idea so I decided to distract myself until it became too late to text.  Part of the distraction was spent texting the Coffee Fairy.  Thank goodness she was willing to indulge me, well kind of… she did say a little ‘drunk texting’ never hurt anyone.

I disagreed, and voiced my concerns and before I knew it, it was close to midnight and I knew I was in the clear.

Another potential crisis averted.
